Project for filing a complaint to the OECD National Contact Point
Summary of the project
The project aims to assist UK Barrister Krishnendu Mukherjee and his team to draft and file a complaint with the German National Contact Point (NCP) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on human rights and environmental violations under the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business (OECD Guidelines). The complaint will deal with negative human rights and environmental impacts related to asbestos contamination in India.
A team of 4 to 5 students from the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg will have the opportunity to work with a top environmental and human rights law practitioner by drafting a complaint to the German NCP about the alleged human rights violations and environmental damage related to asbestos contamination in India. The student team will also conduct research and write a brief analysis of the case.
When the final draft and/or an associated blog post is published, the participating students will be credited as authors. At the end of the project, students will receive a letter of recommendation from the project leaders and the academic supervisor of this project, Professor Patricia Wiater.
Estimated project time commitment:
- 3 to 4 hours per week (research, writing and student team coordination)
- 1-hour bi-weekly meetings with project leads (see About the Clinic section below)
- 1-hour monthly check-in with project partners
